In a statement, the party referred to the exercise scenario, announced by the minister of shipping, involving a strike by an unmanned aircraft on a tanker, with the participation of the coast guard and other public and private sector bodies.
According to KKE, the exercise ‘constitutes a cynical confession of the great dangers that Greece’s participation in the carnage of war poses for our people’.
The statement added that ‘these risks are even greater for seafarers, dock workers, workers in critical infrastructure, but also for the residents of entire regions, such as Eleusis and the Thriasio Plain, which are already in the eye of the cyclone of imperialist antagonisms’.
‘Faced with the possibility of such a scenario, which would have nightmarish consequences for the people of the entire region, there is only one answer: a popular uprising to stop any participation of Greece in the war,’ the party concluded.
