For reasons that have not yet been clarified, the heavy vehicle suddenly moved, striking the worker and fatally injuring him. Despite the immediate mobilisation of his colleagues and the call to emergency services, his injuries proved fatal.
The Chalkida Fire Service rushed to the scene to free the man, while the Traffic Police recorded the circumstances of the incident. An ambulance from the National Emergency Aid Centre (EKAB) transported him to Chalkida General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police sealed off part of the industrial site for the preliminary investigation.
The authorities are investigating whether the required safety protocols were followed, while the Labour Inspectorate is expected to examine the equipment and the factors that led to the unexpected movement of the truck.
