Asked whether their financial situation is better, the same or worse than last year, 47% of respondents said it was worse, 45% said it was the same and only 7% said it was better.
According to the poll, 44% of respondents said they would go on summer holiday this year, down from 49% last year.
The main factors preventing people from planning a holiday are the cost of accommodation, cited by 76%; the need to cover other basic expenses, cited by 74%; the cost of tickets, cited by 59%; and the cost of food, cited by 49%.
Among those who said they would go on holiday, 46% said they would stay in their own home or at a relative’s home, 37% said they would stay in a hotel, 12% in an Airbnb and 5% at a campsite.
