According to the case file, the investigation was launched after Greek authorities received information from the US-based National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) concerning a user who had allegedly uploaded child sexual abuse material to an online storage platform.

Following digital forensic analysis and online investigations, police identified the suspect and located his residence.Searches of his home and office led to the seizure of a mobile phone, a computer hard drive, a laptop, a tablet and a microSD memory card.

According to police, the 52-year-old controlled the account on the online storage platform. Investigators also discovered hundreds of photographs and videos depicting the sexual abuse of children, including children under the ages of 15 and 12, stored on digital devices.

Police sources stressed that it has not yet been established whether the suspect produced any of the child sexual abuse material himself.

The suspect was brought before the competent prosecutor. The seized digital evidence has been sent to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations for forensic examination as the investigation continues.
