Petition calls for boycott of new MTV reality show ‘Growing Up Greek’, which aired on December 3, for ‘grossly misrepresenting’ what it means to be Greek
The 30-minute reality show depicts a group of young, loud, and mostly overweight, Greek-Americans in Tarpon Springs in the US living up to all the stereotypes. Overbearing families, cries of ‘opa’ and plate breaking are, it seems, the order of the day.
A petition on Change.org, is urging MTV to “cancel the show or rewrite it with a true representation.”
