In a post appeared on his personal blog, the Princeton University economist and New York Times columnist argues that in the case of Greece, "Germany is talking as if it intends to follow the Michael Corleone strategy" and even posts the relevant scene from the Godfather...
In Michael Corleone's own words, the strategy is as follows:
“My offer is this… Nothing”.
However Mr Krugman in his post doubts Germany's strategy will pay. He writes:
“But do we really think that Syriza will or even can retreat with its tail between its legs immediately after winning a dramatic election victory? Again, wanna bet on it?”
