Although New Democracy emerged as the leading party in the recent elections, it secured less than 30% of the vote. This result is a significant blow compared to its 41% victory in the national elections, where the benchmark had been set at a minimum of 33%.

The prime minister acknowledged that the government received the electoral message as “We trust you, but try harder.”

“From tomorrow anyway, we have a lot of work,” the prime minister told political editors last night as he was leaving, emphasising that “rest can wait.” When asked if a reshuffle was in his plans, he avoided answering directly, stating only that “it’s time for a lot of work.”
