An Afghan man died on Thursday evening in hospital after he was injured during a violent clash at the reception center for refugees and migrants in Elliniko, the former airport of Athens which is scheduled to be evacuated soon
According to preliminary reports, the unnamed man was stabbed and beaten during a fight with a group of fellow countrymen. He died a few hours later at the Asklipeio Hospital in nearby Voula, with doctors saying that he had suffered extensive head trauma.
Another two migrants involved in the clash are receiving medical care for minor injuries. Police were immediately dispatched to the scene in force, while an investigation is under way.
The reasons of the clash and the motives of the attack have not been identified yet.
