The Greek Federation of Technical Enterprises Workers' Associations (OSETEE) has released alarming statistics showing a significant rise in workplace accidents. In just the first few months of 2024, there have been 31 deaths and 60 serious injuries recorded. Particularly concerning is the spike in the last 23 days, from March 20 to April 12, during which 12 workers lost their lives on the job.

This increase correlates with a surge in construction projects across the country. The data reveals a disturbing trend: each quarter of the year is seeing more fatalities than the last.

OSETEE has criticized the lack of effective measures and the absence of a substantial social dialogue to address this crisis. The organization notes that the response so far has been to question the facts and shift focus away from the core issues. OSETEE plans to introduce a framework of actions within the coming week to tackle this critical situation.
