Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis has vowed to ‘tear down party posters everywhere they are’,  ahead of national elections on January 25.

“Some parties are still living in the 18th century,” he told Skai TV, adding that the only ones to benefit from the posters on building walls around the city are small businessmen.

“This is the internet era, we’re in the 21st century. No one looks at posters anymore, and the city is suffering,” Kaminis said. .

The mayor said he sent a letter to all the party leaders last Thursday asking them to ‘respect the city of Athens’.

“The Athens municipality will not stand for actions that undermine the quality of life in the city,” he said.
