‘From Argos to Aspropyrgos’, read the main banner, linking deaths caused by state and employer violence and declaring: ‘We live through the war here every day.’

Protesters sent a clear message against police brutality and the state that continues to arm the police.

They chanted slogans associated with the uprising that followed the police killing of Alexis Grigoropoulos in December 2008, including ‘Blood is flowing and demands revenge’ and ‘The cop’s gun is magical: he fires into the air and hits someone in the flesh.’

Protesters also waved Palestinian and Cuban flags and wore keffiyehs over their shoulders, connecting different struggles for freedom.
