Charitsis at pro-Palaistinian rally: ‘Mr Mitsotakis, shame! You remain the most loyal ally of a regime committing genocide’

Alexis Charitsis, president of the New Left, launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis over the Greek government’s stance on the Palestinian issue. Speaking in a video posted to TikTok, Charitsis condemned Mitsotakis during Sunday’s pro-Palestine rally at Syntagma Square, accusing him of aligning with a regime engaged in genocide.
‘Mr Mitsotakis, shame!’ Charitsis declared. ‘While in Gaza, Netanyahu’s government is committing genocide against the Palestinian people. While the UN warns that 14,000 infants are at risk of dying from famine caused by Netanyahu. While governments across the world – under pressure from their citizens – are changing course and beginning to apply pressure on Israel, you, Mr Mitsotakis, remain the most loyal ally of a regime that commits genocide, not only against the Palestinian people but against humanity.’
The TikTok video intercuts Charitsis’ statement with scenes from the Syntagma rally, where large crowds gathered in solidarity with Palestine. Concluding his message, Charitsis stated emphatically: ‘Not in our name.’
Alongside the public condemnation, Charitsis also submitted a formal question to Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis, expressing concern over the Greek government’s continued political alignment with Israel amidst ongoing atrocities in Gaza.

Mr Mitsotakis, shame! While in Gaza the government of the slaughterer Netanyahu is committing genocide against the Palestinian people. While the UN warns that 14,000 infants may perish from famine caused by Netanyahu. While governments across the world are shifting their stance under popular pressure, you, Mr Mitsotakis, remain the most loyal ally of a regime that commits genocide – not just against Palestinians, but against humanity.
Not in our name.
