On Tuesday morning, an new explosion shook Istanbul. The bomb attack which caused it was targeted against a police van. 11 people are reported to be dead while hundreds have been wounded
According to the governor of Istanbul, seven of the dead are police officers while three of those wounded are in critical condition.
The explosion took place in a place with many Ottoman and Byzantine monuments, Fatih. The area is central to the city life, not only a tourist destination.
The bomb was detonated via remote control at a bus stop, outside the metro station. CNN Turk claims that the terrorists had parked a wired vehicle which they detonated as the police van was passing by.
