Speaking on SKAI channel, Dendias explained the strategic necessity of the system, inspired by the military scenarios in Ukraine and Gaza, which underscored the importance of robust aerial defences. He described the envisioned defence mechanism as resembling “a church with two superimposed domes,” indicating a layered defence strategy.

The project, according to Dendias, is set to involve significant expenditure, though it is not expected to be completed immediately. He highlighted the urgency of this development in response to regional advancements, noting that while Turkey has been advancing its drone capabilities, Greece had not yet adequately addressed this gap in its military defences.

Reaffirming Greece’s defensive posture, Dendias emphasised, “Greece is not an aggressive force but is committed to protecting its territory. Greece can always protect itself. But we have to take steps to deal with any threat someone makes against us.”
