Disciplinary investigation launched against Hellenic Coast Guard officers over Pylos shipwreck
Greek coast guard officers will testify as suspects in a disciplinary investigation into their role in the recent shipwreck off Pylos.
The investigation, initiated by Greek Ombudsman Andreas Pottakis, will scrutinise the actions of these officers.
“Enough evidence” of wrongdoing has emerged throughout the search and rescue operation, one source revealed.
The Maritime Court, the only judicial body in Greece capable of addressing the criminal liability of coast guard officers, launched a separate investigation last year, though it remains at a preliminary stage.
