Local media LamiaNow reported that despite the efforts of 40 firefighters with 18 vehicles and a special boom truck, the fire rapidly engulfed the building and surrounding company vehicles, causing extensive damage within just over an hour.
Firefighters wearing gas masks attempted to enter the factory to ensure no workers were trapped inside, but powerful explosions from gas tanks hampered their efforts.
Several workers arrived early at the scene, attempting to save company trucks and other vehicles from the flames, but were ultimately unsuccessful.
