PASOK is ready to file the motion of no confidence against the government on Tuesday, supported by the expected backing from the opposition, except for the Niki and Spartiates parties. The legal threshold for initiating this parliamentary challenge—the backing of at least 50 MPs—appears to be within reach, with Syriza, New Left, the Communist Party, and Course of Freedom signalling their intent to support it.

The parliamentary debate over the motion will span three days. The initial two days will see contributions from registered MPs and ministers, culminating on the third day with statements from the political leaders. This development follows the exposé by the Sunday edition of To Vima titled “Tampering at Tempi”, which uncovered the alteration of communication between the stationmaster and train drivers in Larissa, casting doubt on the official narrative of the tragedy.

The front page report highlighted a misattribution of dialogue, revealing that a conversation, previously linked to the ill-fated train, actually involved a local route. This manipulation raises critical questions about the motives behind altering the station master’s conversations and its impact on the human error theory related to the tragedy. The government’s and opposition’s immediate and fervent reactions underscore the severity of the allegations and their implications for Greek politics.
