According to a report by Documentonews.gr, the ECtHR found that the applicant was held in Greece for a total of two months and 17 days in conditions deemed unfit for extended detention. During this period, he was transferred between various facilities, including a police station and a reception centre, where he faced poor living conditions that did not meet European human rights standards.
The court noted that throughout his detention, the asylum seeker faced severe restrictions, with limited outdoor access and insufficient facilities, which fell short of the humane treatment requirements under the European Convention on Human Rights. The ECtHR concluded that the conditions were humiliating and incompatible with established human rights standards.
