Greek Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis has said he is "very proud" to have taken part in the Israeli Embassy’s celebration of the country's creation, insisting that Israel is not responsible for the deaths of children in Gaza, but rather Hamas, which continues to hold 58 Israeli hostages.

It’s worth recalling that the state of Israel was established without the simultaneous creation of a Palestinian state, as outlined in international agreements. This led to the mass displacement of Palestinians from their homeland in what is known as the “Nakba.” Now, 77 years on, pro-Palestinian activists are calling the ongoing genocidal campaign in Gaza a “new Nakba”.

Greek Health Minister :

“I am proud that Israel is an ally of Greece. It’s a country I admire greatly and, by far, our strongest international ally.”

He went on to say:

“The war must end today. For that to happen, Hamas needs to release all the hostages. If they do and Israel continues its actions, I’ll be the first to say Israel has gone too far. But everything will stop once the 58 Israeli hostages are freed.”

Referring to Hamas, he added:

“Hamas is the governing authority in Gaza. It was elected and I haven’t seen the people of Gaza try to remove them. Let’s not forget the celebrations in Gaza after the October 7th attack on Israel.”

These remarks came as the World Health Organization warned that 2.1 million Palestinians in Gaza are at risk of dying due to the ongoing genocide.
