According to an announcement by the Hellenic National Public Health Organisation (EODY), the passenger is being transported from the Netherlands to Greece today through a specially organised procedure, involving connecting flights and an escort by health personnel.

The operation provides for his initial transfer to a Dutch airport, then to Elefsina by an Air Force flight, and finally to Attikon hospital, where he will be admitted to a negative-pressure room and placed in quarantine for 45 days.

The citizen is asymptomatic and in good health. However, increased biosecurity measures are being implemented as a precaution.

A doctor and rescuers from the National Emergency Aid Centre (EKAB), as well as a representative of EODY’s scientific council, are participating in the mission.

Authorities said the measures are being taken for preventive public health reasons, as part of international coordination over the incident on the cruise ship.
