Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressed his satisfaction with Trump’s tariffs pause
“The discussion takes on even greater significance, as we are in a period of major geopolitical and economic turbulence,” he added. “I want to express my satisfaction with the fact that President Trump decided yesterday to temporarily suspend the high tariffs that he had imposed on several countries, with the obvious exception of China,” said Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
He also expressed:
“hope that the European Union will be able to make use of this period to negotiate with the United States a mutually beneficial agreement, and why not, end up with a framework of zero tariffs both to and from the United States, in order to truly facilitate trade between the EU and the US.”
He went on to show his support for the Hellenic Federation of Entreprises, stating, “I want you to know that the Greek government is practically standing beside the industry and recognizes the very important work that you are doing.”
“There’s potential for a ‘win-win’ solution between Europe and the US”
In an interview with the American news outlet Breitbart and journalist Matthew Boyle last night, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said, “There is a European message and a Greek message. On the European front there is a possibility of finding a win-win solution when it comes to trade, a solution which will be mutually beneficial. Τhis was my firm belief from the beginning, before tariffs were announced.”
“As far as Greece is concerned, we have a strategic partnership with the US.”
Trump on Mitotakis: “I know him, he’s a good man”
When asked this morning by a journalist about Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ statements, the far-right President of the United States, Donald Trump, replied:
“Yeah, I know him, he’s a good man and I appreciate his comments”
“A deal could be made with every one of them. They will be fair deals.”
