While the opinion polls suggest that the upcoming elections will be a close race, former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, speaking to potential voters in Egaleo district, clarified that he will not form a coaltion government with New Democracy that “represents the old establishment”.

In an interview with Kontra Channel on Thursday evening, Alexis Tsipras insisted that he is asking for a clear mandate to form a government with the support of the Independent Greeks (ANEL). However he didn't rule out the possibility to cooperate with the socialist Pasok, under the condition it get rids of its “weights”. The former Prime Minister implied that he will not cooperat with the former Pasok  leader Evangelos Venizelos or with any minister involved in the previous government.  

Olga Gerovasili, departing Syriza spokeswoman, said that Syriza “will cooperate only with the political parties that considered memoranda disastreous”. 

However, New Democracy leader Evaggelos Meimarakis, said that he is open to a broader alliance and a government that will guarante a four-years term in order to get Greece out of its economic depression. 

StavrosTheodorakis, leader of the small centrist party To Potami, said on a Greek media that both Alexis Tsipras and Evaggelos Meimaraksi are not clear who they are going to appoint in ministerial positions, if elected. He stated that only people with administrative skills and relevant work experience should be given government positions.
