More than 5,000 police officers will be deployed across the city, including riot police (MAT), the ACTION team, and the DIAS motorcycle unit. These forces will focus particularly on the Exarchia area before, during, and after the march. State Security and traffic police officers will also be mobilised.

In addition to personnel, the security measures will include water cannons (known as “Aiantas” vehicles), drones, and helicopters transmitting real-time footage to the Athens police headquarters’ operations centre. Prosecutors will also oversee operations, while officers stationed on rooftops in Exarchia will monitor and respond to any signs of unrest, including potential squatting incidents.

This year’s security strategy places particular emphasis on guarding Israeli targets in the city, including the Israeli Embassy, the synagogue, and businesses of Israeli interest such as hotels and restaurants.
