Heavy rainfall hit western Greece particularly hard, with major problems recorded in Philippiada, Vonitsa, Preveza, Thessaloniki and Corfu. The fire service received dozens of calls for water pumping and fallen trees. Despite the storm’s intensity, firefighters said that ‘the damage is limited in relation to the magnitude of the bad weather’.
Municipal crews continue to work to clear debris and drain flooded streets. The emergency weather bulletin remains in force until noon, with the National Meteorological Service warning of ongoing rainfall and hazardous driving conditions.
Residents in Preveza and Philippiada endured a difficult night of heavy rain and strong winds, with Philippiada at the centre of the flooding.

In Thessaloniki, several trees fell overnight amid continuous downpours, damaging vehicles and disrupting traffic in the city centre. According to early reports, three trees collapsed in central Thessaloniki within a few hours due to the saturated ground.
In Corfu, a wall collapsed under the weight of the rain, crushing a parked car.
The situation is also severe in Arcadia, where heavy rainfall has caused major problems. Reports indicate that drivers have been stranded, while schools in Megalopolis remain closed.
Flooding has also affected the Moreas motorway, on the section linking Kalamata and Tripoli. The road has been closed at Paradisia after a nearby stream overflowed, flooding both lanes of the motorway. Emergency crews, including ambulances, fire brigades and traffic police, are on the scene. Authorities have urged drivers to avoid the area until pumping operations are completed and the road reopens.
