Chantzis returned to the Prosfygika housing complex on Alexandras Avenue after 73 days of hospitalisation following his 140-day hunger strike.
There, comrades and supporters had gathered to welcome him in an emotional and militant reception, lighting smoke flares and chanting slogans.

In his first statement, Chantzis thanked those who had welcomed him and called for unity in the struggles ahead. He stressed that the community’s effort to defend its survival was a collective one, and that this was precisely why it had prevailed.
He also said that repression would continue for as long as the state and capitalism existed, and that it was therefore necessary to remain united.
