A 74-year-old man, severely burnt while attempting to protect his property, is currently in intensive care, under intubation.
The blaze, igniting around 7 am near Schinokapsala, devastated the vicinity, including the village of Mavros Kolymbos.
Authorities have detained a man suspected of starting the fire in Mavro Kolymbo, Lasithi, Crete, on April 6. He is scheduled for a prosecutor’s hearing today. The arrest was the result of collaborative efforts between the Fire Brigade, the Arson Crimes Directorate, and the Arson Crimes Squad. The suspect will face the Lasithiou Criminal Prosecutor tomorrow.
