The President of the Hellenic Parliament, Nikitas Kaklamanis, informed the Ambassador of the Palestinian Authority in Greece, Yussef Dorkhom, of Parliament’s decision to offer medical and hospital care to ten children from the Gaza Strip. He also conveyed the Parliament’s intention to send humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people as soon as safe access through a humanitarian corridor becomes possible.

During their meeting, Mr Kaklamanis spoke of the “tragic situation in Gaza and the rising number of casualties”, stressing the urgent need for negotiations to resume with the aim of renewing the ceasefire.

“This is essential both for the release of the remaining hostages and the protection of civilians,” he said.

He also highlighted the Greek Parliament’s determination to support the children of Gaza, “who are the greatest victims of this war,” as he put it. The provision of medical care was announced as “an expression of compassion and solidarity with the Palestinian people, who are going through a very difficult time.”

In addition, Mr Kaklamanis confirmed Greece’s readiness to send humanitarian assistance to Palestine, “once it is safe for the humanitarian corridor to operate,” a move being coordinated with his diplomatic adviser, Ambassador Konstantinos Economidis.

The Palestinian Ambassador expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to discuss the situation and underlined the critical importance of allowing large-scale humanitarian aid to reach the people of Gaza without obstruction.

Also present at the meeting were Filippos Fortomas, head of the Greece–Palestine Friendship Group, General Secretary of Parliament Vasilios Bagiokos, the Speaker’s diplomatic adviser Ambassador Konstantinos Economidis, and Fadwa Abushanab, adviser to the Palestinian Authority in Greece.

Androulakis from PASOK also met with the Ambassador of the Palestinian Authority in Greece

Earlier that morning, PASOK–KINAL party leader Nikos Androulakis also met with Ambassador Dorkhom. Following the meeting, Mr Androulakis stated:

“I met with the Representative of the Palestinian Authority in Greece and expressed my solidarity with the Palestinian people and the suffering they are enduring in Gaza. The ethnic cleansing must end immediately, the hostages must be returned, and a lasting two-state solution must finally be implemented, in line with United Nations resolutions.

This is the only path to peace and prosperity in the region.”
