The Managing Director of the IMF and the President of the ECB will be in Luxembourg in order to participate in the Eurogroup on Tuesday. The distance between Greece and its creditors has not narrowed, and this led the Greek Finance Minister to state that no decisions should be expected in today’s Eurogroup thus pointing towards the European leaders for a political solution.

The Greek Finance Minister, Y. Varoufakis stated that “ We will set the agenda regarding what we consider our political and moral duty and it is our duty to achieve an agreement with our European partners and the institutions as soon as possible.”

When asked whether an agreement could be expected today, Mr. Varoufakis answered that he did not think that to be possible.  “The Eurogroup meetings have not be designed in order to give room to new ideas and discussions that have not been already prepared and agreed…the deal must now be reached between political leaders, Prime Ministers and Chancellors.”
