Maria Karystianou submitted the petition regarding the crime at Tempi and the subsequent cover-up operation to the European Parliament's Committee on Petitions, today Monday, March 18th. She submitted it on behalf of the Association of Relatives of the Victims under the urgency procedure. The petition was discussed at the request of Kostas Arvanitis, a SYRIZA MEP.
Ms. Karystianou stated that “What led us here today is a sequence of terrible manipulations and malevolent arrangements made by the Greek government, insulting the memory of our dead and the dignity of the victims who survived. In essence, they blatantly violate fundamental principles of the Rule of Law. In short, today we are brought here because public trust in the lawful functioning of Greek institutions has been devastatingly eroded.”
“Today we and all the people of Greece are certain of the cover-up,” she stressed.
