Mass demonstration and march to the Israeli Embassy in Athens

A large protest took place on Saturday, 31 May, with demonstrators gathering at Eleftherias Park before marching to the Israeli Embassy in Athens. The event was organised by left-wing groups, pro-Palestinian solidarity collectives, and citizens.
Protesters called for an immediate end to the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza, and demanded that the Greek government cease all cooperation with the state of Israel. Chants such as “Stop the massacre in Gaza” and “Freedom for Palestine” echoed through the streets.
The trade union front PAME stated in its announcement:
“The right side of history stands with those fighting for every people’s right to live in peace in their own land – not with those who wage war for the profit of global exploiters.”
The group Stop the War – Solidarity with Palestine added:
“We are now 600 days into a campaign of genocide and starvation, carried out by the Zionist terrorist state with the backing of the United States and its Western allies, including Greece’s New Democracy government. And with every passing day, the horror only deepens.”
