MeRA25 condemns ‘vindictive’ extension of Nikos Romanos’ pretrial detention
In a statement, the party said the ruling exposes the judiciary as “the long arm of the executive branch”, arguing that Romanos is being punished again on the basis of “ridiculous ‘evidence’ — a supposed fingerprint on a movable object”.
“The same judicial power that ensures impunity for the crimes of Tempi, the OPEKEPE scandal, the wiretapping affair, and every manifestation of political and corporate corruption, now unleashes its wrath on those who refuse to comply with the dictates of the most decayed system of governance,” MeRA25 stated.
The party described the court’s decision as “outrageous” and demanded Romanos’ immediate release.
