A 60-year-old migrant woman, known to her friends and colleagues as Nadia, was tragically found charred in the workshop where she worked in Patima Chalandriou, after the building was engulfed in flames. The circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear, but her loss has left the local community in shock and mourning.
“We lost our friend, Nadia,” said a resident who had known her for many years. “She was a very good friend and colleague. We lost someone dear to us.” Nadia, a mother of two, had lived and worked in Greece for many years, becoming a beloved figure among those who knew her.
The owner of the workshop, speaking to MEGA, described the harrowing events. “This disaster happened yesterday afternoon. I don’t know how she ended up trapped inside. I was informed about the fire at 4 pm, but I couldn’t go upstairs—the police were already here. I called the fire brigade, but there was indifference from them. I didn’t learn about her fate until later in the evening, when her relatives called, asking where she was. That’s when we understood. She had worked for us for 20 years. She was married and had two daughters.”
Reports indicate that Nadia’s body was found in the bathroom of the workshop, where she may have tried to seek shelter as the fire spread. The building itself was completely destroyed, with its metal roof likely collapsing under the intense heat.
