‘Adonis Georgiadis was trapped with Predator spyware, as he received at least 11 messages in 2021. Since he announced that he will go to the Hellenic Police to file a lawsuit against Lazopoulos for the misdemeanours of insult and slander, I remind him to also file a lawsuit over the related felonies against anyone responsible for violating his mobile phone and personal data,’ Kesses said.

‘Unless he believes that his family is in danger from a satirical show and not from those who turned him into a mobile bug and invaded his personal and professional space. I also remind him of three of the 11 trap messages he received, to make it easier for him. He will understand,’ he added.

The intervention came after Georgiadis claimed that Lazopoulos had insulted and slandered him during the satirical programme Al Tsantiri News.

‘I am resorting to the Greek courts by filing a lawsuit and a legal claim against Mr Lazopoulos and a lawsuit against the person responsible for the television station’s broadcast,’ the minister said in a post.

During the programme, Lazopoulos had said: ‘When your power ends, you will meet 9 million Greeks on the streets without the escort of riot police,’ after showing a montage of Georgiadis’s statements from his time in the far-right LAOS party and later, after his move to New Democracy.

Georgiadis then sought to rebut Lazopoulos’s criticism by listing what he described as his ‘successes’ at the Ministry of Health over the past week.

In the same post, he said: ‘This attack, in my opinion, goes far beyond the limits of well-intentioned criticism, which as a public figure I must accept, and causes great moral harm to me personally, causes justified fear in my family, and constitutes, in my opinion, a criminal and civilly punishable act.’

He added: ‘I am resorting to the Greek courts by filing a lawsuit and legal claim against Mr Lazopoulos and a lawsuit against the person responsible for the television station’s broadcast. I am also filing a complaint with the National Council for Radio and Television, the only competent institution to protect the public from such obscenities against the television station and its presenter. I sincerely regret that I am forced to do such a thing, as although as a person I accept the harshest public criticism, I generally avoid the courts, respecting freedom of speech and criticism, but here I am left with absolutely no other option.’
