In his weekly Sunday review of government activity, Mitsotakis highlighted the Vertical Corridor, which he said would strengthen Greece’s prospects of becoming a natural gas transit hub for Europe, facilitating the transport of US liquefied natural gas (LNG) as European countries seek to diversify their energy supplies.
On defence, the prime minister referred to the upgrading of Greece’s F-16 fighter jets to the Viper configuration, the integration of F-35 aircraft into the Greek Air Force and cooperation with the US National Guard.
Mitsotakis also outlined a series of government measures, including electricity subsidies for energy-intensive industries, assistance for those affected in Crete, support for fishers and investment in infrastructure, healthcare and energy-efficiency upgrades to public buildings.
Turning to the draft 2027 state budget, he forecast economic growth of 2.3% next year and argued that Greece’s economic performance would allow the government to continue providing social support while reducing public debt.
