“Mr Varoufakis wasn't (at the Eurogroup meetings of finance ministers) to negotiate,” he added.
About the reappointment of Mr.Tsakalotos, who was Mr.Varoufaki's successor in the previous government, Mr.Moscovici said: “I'm happy that Euclid Tsakalotos is the new finance minister, because he is somebody we know,”
The appointment of Mr.Tsakalotos was well received by Greece's European partners as a sign that Greece would honour its deal with its creditors.
