The Appellate Judicial Council, acting on a prosecutor’s recommendation, ruled that Michaloliakos must serve his 13-year sentence for leading a criminal organisation.

Earlier, the Judicial Council of Misdemeanours of Lamia had decided to release Michaloliakos under restrictive conditions, including a ban on leaving Attica, leaving the country, and meeting with co-defendants. This decision was contrary to the prosecutor’s proposal.

The Appeals Council, aligning with the prosecutor’s view, described Michaloliakos as unrepentant and likely to commit new crimes. This assessment was based in part on his recent article in electronic media, where he continued to praise the illegal Nazi-style activities of Golden Dawn despite his conviction.
