A new case of gender-based physical and psychological abuse was recorded on the evening of 24 March in the village of Spilia in Chania. A 28-year-old man attacked and assaulted his 23-year-old wife before taking their 15-day-old baby and disappearing.

According to reports from ERT, the incident unfolded in the municipality of Platanias, specifically in the village of Spilia, Crete. The man allegedly attacked and harmed his partner before fleeing with their newborn. In a state of distress, the victim immediately alerted the police.

It was later revealed that the 28-year-old had left the baby at a relative’s home. He was subsequently arrested and is expected to appear before the public prosecutor. Meanwhile, the mother and infant were taken to hospital for medical attention.
