The protest gathering was scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Venizelos Statue, following a call from various workers’ unions nd marched along Egnatia Street towards the New Railway Station.

In their statements, the unions declared:

“The wave of workers and the people will overturn the exploitative foundations of the profit-driven system and the Tempe tragedy. They fear the people on the streets, with the unions at the forefront.”

Once again, thousands responded to the unions’ call, chanting slogans such as “Their profits or our lives,” “I can’t breathe,” and “No cover-up.”

At the station, protestors lit lanterns in memory of the 57 victims of the Tempe disaster, similar to the tribute in Syntagma Square.

According to reports from the Athens-Macedonian News Agency, clashes broke out at the end of the march near Kamara, where riot police fired stun grenades and tear gas. A total of 59 people were detained but were released later that night.
