As can be seen in the video, at a recent appearance one such hopeful failed to draw the adoring masses he was perhaps hoping for – or anyone else for that matter, aside from perhaps a few indifferent pigeons.

The MEP candidate in question, the doctor turned philosopher according to his CV Dimitris Antoniou, who has established the self described ‘New Political Movement of Hope’ (Elpida Politeias), made his case  to the Greek people in the square of the northern Greek city of Xanthi.

Unfortunately few seemed interested in his message which appears to have begun with a quick summary of quantum mechanics and its relation to philosophy before somehow segueing into a thorough denouncement of today’s 'treasonous' politicians who Dr Antoniou believes should be put on trial for genocide.

The aspiring politician, dressed in a suit of the purest white, forged on despite his audience consisting only of a sole supporter who nevertheless sought to preserve the moment via the medium of his smartphone.

In a democracy everyone gets their say, it's just that not everyone listens.
