PASOK has accused former Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament, Konstantinos Tasoulas, of approving substantial grants for projects in his own constituency on his final day in office, denouncing what it calls a “deeply old-party perception and extremely arrogant behavior.”

In a statement, PASOK detailed that on January 16, the last day of his tenure, Tasoulas signed off on several financial allocations, including:

  • €125,000 to the Holy Metropolis of Ioannina
  • €30,000 to the Municipal Public Benefit Enterprise of the Regional Theater of Ioannina
  • €5,000 to the association “Epirotiki Estia”
  • The commitment of €815,685 from the Parliament’s Special Account for the construction of the Military History Museum of Konitsa, following a decision by the Conference of Presidents

“What is the common thread in these last-minute decisions? They all involve funding for organisations in his constituency,” PASOK stated, adding that the move “reeks of outdated clientelism and sheer arrogance.”

“The conclusions are for you to make,” the statement concluded.
