Pensioners say their pensions are not enough to cover basic needs, rejecting what they describe as ‘the policy of benefits and the constant invocation of budgetary constraints’.
In their call, they refer to years of anti-pensioner policies by successive governments, arguing that cuts and austerity have driven thousands of elderly people into financial deadlock.
At the same time, they stress that they will not accept new austerity measures or further burdens ‘in the name of the war economy’, calling for mass participation in the demonstrations.
The organisations say they are determined to continue their interventions until their demands for substantial increases and the restoration of pension losses are met.
