Another police operation took place on the morning of Tuesday, 22 April, within the premises of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH). Following a request from the university’s rectorate, police forces cleared a space within the Faculty of Sciences that had been under occupation. Items and furniture were removed from the area, though no individuals were found on site at the time.

“A space that was being used without permission by an anti-authoritarian group has now been vacated and returned to the university community, to be used by a particularly vulnerable group –people with special needs,” said AUTH Rector Charalambos Feidas in a statement to the Athens–Macedonian News Agency. “University premises are meant to serve their primary purpose: education and research.”

According to the newspaper Makedonia, the space in question is located within the Physics Department of the university, near the new library currently under construction. The occupation of the space dates back to 2011. It was cleared last year but was reoccupied again in March.
