Police beatings for the cleaning women after the Supreme Court Decision

The new political leadership of the Ministry of Finance showed, in the most aggressive fashion, its intentions towards the dismissed cleaning women who were brutally beaten by riot police officers immediately following the decision by the Supreme Court which ‘legitimized’ their dismissal.

Three injured women were transported to the hospital among whom was a photojournalist. “We will not be bowed, we will fight for our children and we will win,” the cleaning women told ‘EfSyn’.

Way clears for collective dismissals

The floodgates have been opened with regards to collective dismissals following the majority decision of the Supreme Labour Council to approve the dismissal of 45 of the 75 workers of the steelmaker Halyvourgia Hellas.

Lagarde List: Papaconstantinou released on bail

Giorgos Papaconstantinou denied all charges levelled at him over his involvement in the case of the ‘Lagarde List’. The former Finance Minister was released on bail of 30,000 euros and under the condition that he regularly check in at a police station.

Heating oil: a failed tax

The Finance Ministry is planning interventions in economic policy with an emphasis on the daily lives of citizens, beginning with the reevaluation of the high tax on heating oil. A high-level official in the ministry openly admitted yesterday the failure of the measure that saw the tax on heating oil raised to the level of that on diesel fuel which resulted in a fall as opposed to a rise in revenue and implied that the issue would be reexamined.

The Bank of Greece recommendations for reductions in ‘objective values’ of properties
