Prosecutor orders investigation into nationwide airport communications blackout
The case has been assigned to the Cybercrime Division, which will investigate whether the incident could constitute the offence of dangerous interference with aircraft traffic. Authorities are also examining the source of the interference that affected almost all radio frequencies within the Athens Flight Information Region (FIR).
According to officials, the communications failure has now been resolved and flights have resumed normal operations. Delays, however, continue at several airports as a result of the backlog created during the outage.
