Protest outside Israeli Embassy in Athens – Thousands rallied for a free Palestine

Thousands of people have gathered outside the Israeli Embassy following a call by the March to Gaza initiative, demanding justice for the activists aboard the Madleen – the ship intercepted as part of the Freedom Flotilla – and standing with the Palestinian people, who remain under siege and ongoing attacks. Organisers have described the incident as "an act of international piracy and terrorism" and accuse Israel of continuing war crimes against civilians.
The crowd initially gathered in Panormou street before marching towards the Israeli Embassy, waving Palestinian flags and chanting slogans in support of the Palestinian cause. Outside the heavily guarded embassy, police riot vans have been lined up in anticipation.

Protesters are calling for:
- The immediate and unconditional release of the Madleen’s crew
- An end to the bombings and the genocide in Gaza
- The lifting of the blockade and the opening of a safe corridor for humanitarian aid
- A complete halt to all cooperation with the Israeli murderous state
- Protection and safe passage for international solidarity missions
- The granting of a Greek flag to ships of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, as a gesture of tangible support for humanitarian efforts to prevent famine in Palestine
Among the chants heard are “Freedom for Palestine” and “No justice no peace”, along with slogans condemning Greece’s complicity in the genocide of the Palestinian people.
The protest also features a banner from the Greek delegation heading towards Gaza, which reads:
“We march to Gaza to break the blockade and allow humanitarian aid through, to amplify Palestinian voices, and to stand for the value of human life.”
