72% of the EU citizens do not agree with the policies of the EU while this number rises to 77% for the Eurozone citizens. At the same time 68% are in disagreement with the national policies of their country of citizenship
Contrary to their discontent towards EU and Eurozone policies, 71% of those asked said that, in case of a referendum, they would vote for their countries to remain in the EU. British citizens were the most skeptical towards their country's stay but still, those who would vote yes rose to 59%.
When asked about the role of Germany, the European citizens appeared to be standing on two boats. 55% thought that it played a “good” to “very good” role, while 45% considered it “bad”.
It should be noted that the poll was conducted by the Bertelsmann institution on July, at the height of the discussions concerning the Greek crisis, while the refugee crisis had not yet become part of the daily agenda. The poll reached 12000 citizens from the 28 countries of the EU.

An example is J.C.Juncker for whom 40% of those asked said that they were familiar with his name, while only 32% knew the name of the Italian PM M.Renzi and even fewer (22%) knew the Spanish PM M.Rajoy. The German Chancellor A.Merkel is the most recognizable European politician 83% of those asked saying that they knew who she was.
