Since we lost Costas last June, serious technical problems have started to pile up and hinder the smooth operation of our site. Unfortunately, all the specialists we had been collaborating with threw their hands up. That was fair enough, since the TPP’s code is Costas Efimeros’ baby, and any technical problem requires the assistance of a professional developer familiar with what Costas had done. But this situation is untenable, and has led to problems that eat up our time: links to blank pages and other issues that, while perhaps not visible to the reader, really aggravate those of us who work on the site.

That’s why, in collaboration with the digital communication cooperative “Sociality,” we are hosting a fundraiser in the hopes of raising 1,500 euros. This money will be used to transfer the TPP to a new digital home, on WordPress, a platform that is widely used and will allow our technicians to solve problems instantly and easily and to generally ensure the proper functioning of TPP. The site will be transferred this summer, in collaboration with programmers who worked with Costas and who will thus be able to make the transition as smooth as possible.

Whatever funds we don’t manage to raise at the party will then become the target of a small campaign, whose object will again be to raise funds for the digital relocation of our site.

If (like us) you’re not an expert in technical issues, we want to assure you that our experience over this past year has shown that, if we fail to solve technical problems, our site is disrupted–and our ability to provide you with daily, up-to-the-minute news becomes threatened.

So, this Sunday July 8th, come on out with us for a cold beer or a colorful cocktail at Melissa Bar in Keramikos so that we can get to know you, enjoy the evening with our supporters, and raise funds for our site’s transfer. Your favorite TPP swag will be on sale, too: mugs, bags, etc. It will be a simple and enjoyable way to make something good happen for journalism. After all, without all of you, the TPP wouldn’t exist. We truly mean that.

We can’t wait to see you!
