State Lab finds xylene and other aromatic hydrocarbons in Tempe freight train

A year after the Tempe railway disaster, the General Chemical State Laboratory travelled to Larissa to collect samples from the interior lining of the passenger train IC-62. The samples were analysed, and according to four confidential documents from the laboratory, the results confirmed the presence of xylene and other aromatic hydrocarbons in the train's interior lining.
Four confidential documents from the Chemical State Laboratory, seen by NEWS 24/7, indicate that xylene and aromatic hydrocarbons were detected in the analysis results.
According to these documents, the substances found in the samples include:
- Aromatic hydrocarbons (such as methylethylbenzene and propylbenzene): These are found in hydrocarbon mixtures used as solvents.
- Xylene (ortho-, meta-, and para-dimethylbenzene): An organic solvent.
- Other solvents, including benzaldehyde, methyl ethyl ketone, butyl acetate, and more.
