SYRIZA has called for the summoning of Niki Kerameos, the Minister of the Interior, to the Institutions and Transparency Committee, amidst growing concerns over the leak of personal data of expat voters. The request, citing Article 43A of the Parliament's Rules of Procedure, aims to address issues related to the integrity of the upcoming June 9 European elections.

The MPs from the opposition party highlighted a recent incident where personal data leakage was discovered last month, raising serious questions about the security measures in place at the Ministry of the Interior. These concerns were further amplified by a break-in at the office of the Director of the Directorate of Elections of the Ministry on April 26.

The opposition members have expressed frustration over the lack of response from Minister Kerameos despite repeated inquiries. They are now seeking a formal hearing, where the Minister is expected to provide explanations and reassurances to the Parliament regarding the measures being taken to safeguard citizen data and ensure the integrity of the electoral process.
