SYRIZA president: Mitsotakis’ stance on Venezuela is dangerous for the country
Speaking on the radio station “Sto Kokkino”, Famellos described the recent US intervention in Venezuela as “a blatant violation of the UN Charter and International Law”, calling it an “illegal use of force” and “imperialist interference” aimed at securing control over the country’s natural resources. Such actions, he argued, undermine sovereignty, fuel global instability and set extremely dangerous precedents.
Famellos also criticised the European Union for what he called a weak and inadequate response, saying the crisis again exposes the absence of a coherent European security and foreign policy, as happened with Ukraine.
He reserved his strongest words for Prime Minister Mitsotakis, claiming that the Greek government’s position effectively “accepts the abolition of International Law”. According to Famellos, such a stance endangers Greece itself, opening the door to destabilising scenarios in the Eastern Mediterranean at a moment when the region already faces heightened geopolitical tension.
